Unwanted hair is an issue both men and women face every single day. Have you ever gone to the gym and realised half way through your workout that you forgot to shave your armpits? The internal embarrassment can sometimes be unbearable but we have the ultimate solution to ensure this never happens again. IPL Hair removal.

What is IPL?

IPL stands for intense pulsed light hair removal. It is a form of light therapy which damages the hair follicle reducing the amount of hair growth. In more dept the wave lengths from the IPL light scatters within the skin, targeting the melanin pigment in the hair follicles which then heats up the root and the hair shaft damaging the follicle and interrupting the current growth cycle. In response the follicle stops growing and will fall within 14 days.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatment duration will vary for everyone. Factors such as your family background, hair history and hormones are all taken into account at the beginning of your IPL journey and will determine what course of action we take. We usually say 6-8 treatments on most large areas such as the legs, Brazilian and armpits. Though hormonal areas like the face can be a bit more temperamental and may need more treatments closer together in time.

Does IPL work for everyone?

Unfortunately the IPL light only targets dark hair pigment. Meaning people with blonde and red hair will not get the desired results that IPL should bring.

How to prepare for IPL

There are many factors that come into play when preparing to begin your IPL journey. The first would be getting a patch test. We recommend coming into the salon and getting a patch test at least a week prior to your first treatment. This just gives us an opportunity to ensure that skin and hair react well to the light therapy before we go on and complete a full treatment.
The second would be ensuring you’ve had minimal sun exposure 6 weeks prior to your treatment. This is so the light does not affect your skins pigment and purely targets the hair follicle.
It is also very helpful to moisture the area which is to be treated daily. Taking care of the skin in the area will be very beneficial to your hair loss. If your current form of hair removal is waxing we recommend stopping at least 4 weeks prior to the treatment. This is because when you wax you are pulling the hair straight out of the follicle but for IPL to work we need the hair to be sitting in the shaft, so it is best to switch to shaving in between IPL treatments.

Why should you choose IPL?

There are so many amazing reasons you should consider IPL .

– It is a non invasive treatment
– Pain free
– All round coast effective
– A Great alternative to shaving and waxing
– Long lasting results.

So, if you’re after long lasting hair removal IPL is the treatment for you. Say goodbye to monthly waxing treatments, weekly shaving and say hello to hair free skin.
